Teatro Bonci, ''Rigoletto''

Cesena (Italy)

The stage elements of this staging have been built almost exclusively using a wooden carpentry made followinf the ancient tradition. The big dimensions of the stage of the Teatro Alessandro Bonci of Cesena (24 meters from the curtain to the back of the stage) were fully exploited, recalling the atmospheres and the volumetries of the fifteenth-century building of the duke of Mantua thanks to the architecture of three big painted ceilings. The Students of the Class of Scenography of the Melodrama of the academy of Belle Arti of Bologna-Cesena planned and realized scenes, the properties and the costumes, using as usual the scenographic workshop E' Pizzòn Viazador, the workshop of the academic center of Cesena.

The same ceilings, changing their position, created in the second act a new perspective. The elements of scene appeared and disappeared in the black of the Stage masking realized with COS - Oscurante molton and, cleverly veiled by a black BSU - Super Gobelin tulle, and created magic apparitions and disappearances in the nothing.
On the right of the scene, three big bas-reliefs painted on BGO - Gobelin tulle concealed monstrous transformations, that revealed at the opportune moment materializing the thoughts of the protagonist.

The transformation of one of the bas-reliefs, gotten with the overlap of two painted images, on ASC320S - Sceno 320 cm muslin and BGO - Gobelin tulle, that dissolved the one in the other thank to special variations of illumination.
Also in the third act they were employed some elements of scene built according to the techniques of theatrical carpentry of the best tradition.
Of deliberate simplicity, the illumination gave effective relief to the topical zones of the scene isolating them on the background of the Stage masking.
