Madrid

In the picture, taken during the rehearsals, one can notice the inlay decoration of the stage and of the staircase that connects it to the stalls and, still stretched to earth, a backdrop made of FBR - Bruxelles velvet with silvery NDA - Aplicații decorative. At the bottom, actors and actresses are wearing costumes with an eighteenth-century inspiration by Javier Artiñano.

One of the several backdrops made of painted ASC1000S - Sceno 1.000 cm muslin used in this scenography. In this case the scene painters reproduced an etching by Goya.In the foreground, the continuity among stage and public obtainded with the stairway.
The testing of the scenes realized with painted strips made of ASC1000S - Sceno 1.000 cm muslin.Caballero expressly asked the scenographer José Luis Raymond that the stage space was inspired to the colours used more often by Goya. And something that could give the action the sense to be contained in a miniature (the particular height of the vertically stripped scenes and their color really serve to accent these impressions).
The realization of another painted backdrop made of ASC1000S - Sceno 1.000 cm muslin. The titles of the four Sainetes selected by Caballero are well representative of their style and contents:- The Ridiculous Pregnant, a court farce in a Molière style;- The Sore of the Fiancées, a reviews of female habits;- The women's republic, a utopian representation of a nation made of women only;- Manolo, a tragedy to laugh or a farce to cry, a panders' parody.
As it is evident looking at this backdrop, Raymond's scenes also used several elements with oriental inspiration. The sountrack by Alicia Lázaro used some eighteenth-century melodies retrieved in the Town Historical Archives of Madrid and different arias and minuets by Luigi Boccherini, Rodríguez de Hita and Blas de Laserna, and connected them with a specially composed leit motive.
The workmanship's phases of the backdrop made of FBR - Bruxelles velvet decorated with silvery NDA - Aplicații decorative.José Luis Raymond required that the sketch of the decorations faithfully reproduced some of those used in Spain during Ramón de la Cruz's epoch.

Director Ernesto Caballero gathered in this show four among the more than two hundred sainetes (farces) of which Ramón de la Cruz (1731-1794) is author.
The sainetes were used to cheer up the intervals of serious plays and they were considered second level plays because of their comic and burlesque tone.
