The Actientheater, Zurich's main theater, is destroyed by fire during the New Year's night.
The project for the construction of a new theater is entrusted to the Austrians Fellner & Helmer which, for reasons of urgency, start from the project of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden on which they are already working.
1981
The new theater, with its neoclassical exterior and neo-Baroque hall, is built in just 16 months and it is inaugurated with the name of Stadttheater.
