ASC - Sceno muslin was one of the favorite materials by Emanuele Luzzati. In the image, tops and wings made of ASC260S - Sceno 260 cm muslin on which it is reproduced the architecture of a rural building make lean out the scene on a wood of trees, also made with the same technique, that detach on the back-lighting of a big backdrop made of ASC1000S - Sceno 1.000 cm muslin.
In the scene can cohabit tin soldiers, backdrops with dreamlike backgrounds, luxuriant gardens and intellectual references, in an amalgam that was well supported by the scene direction by Filippo Crivelli and that was well completed by the costume design by Santuzza Calý.
Dulcamara begins his show. A red sunset light illuminates the big backdrop made of painted ASC1000S - Sceno 1.000 cm muslin.
Dulcamara doesn't enter the scene with the usual wheelbarrow, but he emerges from a magic closet that suddenly materializes him among the peasants, and it is more a wizard than the courtyard fast talker that we are used to see.
The announcement of the arrival of Dulcamara. Unmistakable, also in this picture, the characterization that Luzzati infuses to every detail of the scenography.
The installation was realized in 1994, but it is regularly re-staged, always with a great success.
A scenographic interpretation out of the canons of the melodrama by Donizetti, that dissuades it from the rural stereotype of an Arcadian Lombardy and transports it in a world of dream of which the author is immediately recognizable, the great illustrator and scenographer Emanuele Luzzati.
