Teatro del Canguro, ''Cielomaresoleluna''

Ancona (Italy)

«Maybe fishes can speak, but we can't listen to them.Young spectators are offered to change their usual rhythm of viewing-listening: that of the remote control and of the images that follow one another in a frenzy. This time the time runs slower, softer and, thanks to that, you can see what you usually can't.»Teatro del Canguro, from the presentation of Cielomaresoleluna.

The scenography of Cielomaresoleluna is very modestly and ingeniously composed of a few scenic elements used with the intention not realistic at all.The translucent and the photo-diffusive properties of a small RNB - Nebbia backdrop, 4 x h 3 m, are used to reproduce with extraordinary effectiveness the underwater visions where fluctuate, flied to wires, the marine protagonists of the show: fishes, sea-horses and jellyfishes.
Four small backdrops, 6 x h 1,4 m, manufactured with white HSE - Tempesta, stylize the waves of the sea, taking advantage of the lightness of silk and the blue coloration of lights. The moon and stars are projected on a RAR - Arizona backdrop, 4 x 2,7 m, squared from two wings made of black COS - Oscurante molton. The inhabitants of the sea, the moon, stars and waves ...
... interact with the human protagonists, two fisherwomen more inclined to listen to what is happening around that to the predatory activity. Here the fishing is not an aim but an instrument for reflection. It's impossible, after having seen these pictures, to prevent the mind to recover the silk sea of Piccolo Teatro, ''The Tempest'' ...
... that Luciano Damiani designed in 1977 for Giorgio Strehler, and to realize soon afterwards about the honesty of the quotation that the stage designer Fabrizio Valentini did, whose recall to historical installation of Piccolo Teatro di Milano is really done without pretension. Then Damiani used the HSE - Tempesta silk, that since that moment took the name of Shakespeare's comedy ...
... to create a giant backdrop that covered about twenty mimes that waved it with their arms, while Valentini has adapted the idea of the great Bolognese stage designer to the size and intentions of the show produced by the Teatro del Canguro. The children, although unaware of the quotation, appreciated the show. The protagonists are «... two motionless shapes that ...
... handling a fishing-rod, simply wait confidently, without knowing if and what they will be able to fishAre they really interested in a fish that could bite, or simply have they at heart that sea and that sky? At the end, even if neither a fish will rise to the bait, no one will have waited in vain: giving time to time, you can know and learn many new things, have fun, play and hope for the next opportunity.»Teatro del Canguro, ibidem.
The plan shows the very modest technical requirements of the show: for its representation it is enough to have a darkened space at least 7 m wide, 5,5 m deep and 4,5 m high.
