Rossini Opera Festival, ''Semiramide''

The ZSM - Magic Mirror backdrops were superimposed to the Digital printing rear-illuminated backdrops realized with the film RCO - Colorado on which the geography of the terrestrial globe is represented. Adjusting the light of the Rear-illuminated backdrops it is possible to make dynamically appear the printed images on the mirror surface.

Orlandi and Kaegi, quoting the control room by Ken Adam (the scenographer of Kubrik's Dr. Strangelove), instilled in the tragic opera by Rossini some topics of political fiction that have a disturbing actuality.
The picture summarize the possibilities offered by the ZSM - Magic Mirror backdrops that, from a completely reflecting view (at the top on the left), can gradually pass, increasing the light of the Rear-illuminated backdrops, to the totally transparent aspect of the image at the bottom on the right.
The real scenographical potentialities of the combining between ZSM - Magic Mirror and Rear-illuminated backdrops studied by William Orlandi are appreciable only assisting to the passages among the different situations of illumination, in which transparency, reflection and light games dynamically alternate, favoring and accenting the dramatic action.
