Teatro Donizetti, ''Don Pasquale''

Bergamo

The visual effect is that of a Closed set scene, but the walls of the living room in the house of Don Pasquale are realized with a single backdrop painted by Paolino Libralato on ASC1000S - Sceno 1.000 cm muslin.

The backdrop has been hung to form an angle, and the stage space is not the rectangular or square plan of the classic Closed set, but has a right-angled triangle plan. The pictures hanged on the walls are some copies of masterpieces by masters of the Italian painting, among which Canaletto, Bellotto, Panini and they are painted with a technique trompe the oeil on the muslin backdrop ...
... and also the second room that can be seen in the background is in actually a perspective fiction painted on the backdrop ...

... as is evident from these photographs taken during its processing ...
... in Paolino Libralato's workshop, near Venice.
