M. de la Roserie decides to provide Paris with a theatre for conservatory students and entrusts its design to Auguste Rougevin and Louis-Régnier de Guerchy.
The theatre is inaugurated at the end of the same year.

The theatre is renovated based on a project by Charles de Lalande.
The hall's decorations are redone, giving it its current appearance.
1985
The theatre is named after Marie Bell, the great actress who directed it from 1962 until her death.
