Sotto le stelle del cinema
(Under the Stars of Cinema) is the summer film season by the Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna
, a body of Municipality of Bologna which created and manages one of the most important film archives in the world.
Founded in 1962, the prestigious Cineteca di Bologna
houses more than films than 80,000 movie films and collaborates closely with L'immagine ritrovata
, a film restoration laboratory that is rated at the top of world quality and with which it constitutes an unparalleled excellence synergy.
The works restored by L'immagine ritrovata
, recognized as the best film laboratory in the world by the most important international award in the sector, the Focal International Award
, are screened during the Il cinema ritrovato
(The Rediscovered Cinema) festival.
The Sotto le stelle del cinema
season and Il cinema ritrovato
festival use a Frontal projection screen
made of PMI - Bianco Ottico Perforato
with a 23,5 x 10 m projection area, that is the 2,35:1 aspect ratio of anamorphic 35 mm.
The screenings take place in the historic and monumental Piazza Maggiore
and in the more peripheral location of the BarcArena
, where the Cineteca di Bologna
installed a slightly smaller second screen (18 x 7.66 m), that has identical proportions and quality level of the first and that is equally made of PMI - Bianco Ottico Perforato
